In recent years, it has been challenging to fill in sixth grade parent volunteer slots. The demand for ice cream every week only increased! Fellow parent, Laurel Wilder, PTA Secretary, Jog-a-thon Coordinator, and all around volunteer, introduced Kona Ice as a possible option. We piloted the Kona Ice truck in May 2018; it was a HUGE success earning 30% of the sales. The Kona Ice owner said this was the largest sales he has ever seen from an elementary school in one event!
The Sixth Grade team decided to change gears this year, offering "Frozen Friday" once a month instead of Friday Ice Cream on a weekly basis. This change will alleviate the stress in finding weekly parent volunteers (fingers crossed).
Will Friday Ice Cream return? Possibly, but it all lies in your hands. These events cannot happen without volunteers. If a weekly event is something we should partake in once again, we need to rely on the upper grade level as this fundraiser lies in their hands.
In the meantime, enjoy Frozen Friday on September 14!
